Bundestag Vote Looms on Prague–Dresden ‘Century Tunnel’ that Would Halve Rail Times
Germany’s transport ministry has submitted the Czech–German treaty for the 30-km Krušnohorský rail tunnel to the Bundestag. Approval would clear the way for construction of a high-speed line that will cut Prague–Dresden trips to one hour and Prague–Berlin to two. The project could transform cross-border business travel and freight flows, but still faces financing, environmental and scheduling hurdles.
